Coaching isn’t just about workouts — it’s about knowing your athletes. Smagpie now supports health metrics as a first-class data type alongside training zones and benchmarks.
Head to Health Metrics in Team Settings and configure which measurements matter for your program. Choose from a catalog of system metrics — weight, body composition, resting heart rate, VO2Max, circumference measurements, and more — or create custom metrics specific to your sport. For each one, set your preferred unit, how often you want it measured, and whether athletes can self-report or only coaches enter data.
The coach bulk entry page is built for efficiency. Your athletes run down the left column, metrics run across the top, and you fill in the grid. Tab moves to the next metric, Enter moves to the next athlete. Last measured values show below each field so you can spot changes instantly. Hit “Save All” and only the cells you touched get written.
On the athlete side, health metrics appear on the benchmarks page as cards showing current value, last measured date, and a trend indicator. Athletes with self-report permission see an inline input to log their own measurements. Compliance badges — green for current, amber for due soon, red for overdue — tell you at a glance who needs attention.
We also added a threshold pace calculator for endurance coaches. Click the calculator icon next to any Running or Swimming threshold field and enter a recent race result or test time. For running, the calculator uses VDOT tables (Daniels-Gilbert equations) to estimate your threshold pace from anything from an 800m to a marathon. For swimming, enter your 400m and 200m CSS test times. Hit “Apply” and the calculated threshold drops right into the field — no spreadsheets, no lookup tables.
